In 1983, a small group of Christians gathered for the first worship services of a new United Methodist church planted on the outskirts of Claremore, Oklahoma. Many carefully made plans finally came to pass as churches all across Oklahoma made it possible to purchase land, build a parsonage, and provide for temporary worship facilities. The current main building including a sanctuary, classrooms, kitchen, and office space was built in 1987, providing a pleasant environment for worship, learning, and fellowship.
The vision for this new congregation was to introduce people to Jesus, in the same way that the disciple Andrew had done. St. Andrew's U. M. C. took its name and its character from one who with enthusiasm and excitement sought to faithfully share the Good News of God's love, mercy, and grace through His Son, Jesus.
Located on a peaceful five acre setting at the edge of historic Claremore, St. Andrew's is only a few miles from metropolitan Tulsa. This provides a true place of sanctuary for spiritual renewal and growth in the Body of Christ, as well as a wonderful launching point for many ministries of outreach into the community and beyond. Nestled in one of the fastest growth areas in Oklahoma, we find ourselves poised for even more exciting horizons of ministry and service for the Lord!
